We now continue with part two of the list to bring you the last three best festive celebrity engagements and weddings of the 2009 holiday season!
Michael Buble & Luisana Loreley Lopilato de la Torre
For Canadian singer Michael Buble his biggest track, I just haven’t met you yet, clearly no longer applies. Buble began dating his Argentinian actress girlfriend, Luisana Loreley Lopilato de la Torre, afte they met at a concert in Buenos Aires in late 2008.
Within the first few days of 2010 the happy news of their engagement was announced. The couple managed to keep the engagement news under wraps as Buble supposedly popped the question months before in November.
Buble proposed in front of Lopilato’s family in Argentina. The singer presented his fiancé with a fancy diamond engagement ring from Vancouver jeweler Minichiello, which he custom designed.
Robbie Williams & Ayda Field
Former Take That star and singer Robbie Williams confirmed rumours of his engagement to Ayda Field, his long-time girlfriend of three years. Since the singer purchased a stunning diamond engagement ring for Field, fans have been anticipating a proposal; Williams is thought to have popped the question to the actress over the holidays.
The news was initially considered a little suspect as there had already been rumours of wedding bells when Williams, 35, popped the question to the 30-year-old on an Australian radio station in November during a promotional tour – but this was later renounced as a joke or fake proposal.
Bells were beginning to chime again when we heard Williams was perhaps planning romantic New Year’s Eve proposal. Apparently he was too excited to wait and in fact dropped to one knee on the last Tuesday of 2009 during a romantic evening in his Los Angeles home and told Field she was “the one”.
Confirming the news to be true, the bride-to-be flashed her diamond encrusted engagement ring on several occasions, including when she was spotted at the luxurious XIV Karats jewellers in Beverly Hills. The ring appeared a little loose on her finger, so she may likely have been there to arrange a sizing alteration.
The couple have limited time to plan their day and practice their vows after reports that Robbie wishes to keep up the romantic gestures and get married on Valentine’s day this year.
Jaime Hince & Kate Moss
January inspired “The Kills” guitarist Jamie Hince, to spontaneously propose to UK Supermodel Kate Moss. Hince, 40, reportedly flew out to Mustique, an exclusive, private island in the southern Caribbean where Moss was working, to surprise her and propose on her 36th birthday on the 16th January.
The couple have enjoyed a fiery romance since being introduced by mutual friend Sadie Frost backstage at a Kills gig in September 2007, just three months after Kate’s turbulent two-year relationship with the infamous singer Pete Doherty ended. Family have expressed support of Hince’s intentions, particularly as he reportedly has a great relationship with Moss’s 8-year-old daughter Lila Grace from a previous relationship with Jefferson Hack.
Reports said that Moss simply couldn’t wait for her boyfriend to pull his finger out – and treated herself to a £90,000 engagement ring. Though not confirmed, some say that as she is the major bread-winner in the relationship, she happily forked out for the diamond and platinum band with an Egyptian-themed symbol from London’s Garrard store.
She was seen garnishing this ring whilst out celebrating her 36th birthday back in London’s Shoreditch House with Hince and other friends. Wedding bells are expected to chime around the 1st March.
